Engineered Wood Flooring

Looking for high quality engineered flooring at affordable prices? We have something to suit every interior design scheme, whether it be a stylish, modern floor or a more traditional rustic grade floor.

Despite the fact that it is the most common type of wood flooring used today, the term engineered flooring is not a familiar term to most. Engineered wood flooring is basically a wooden plank consisting of real timber that has been compressed into 3 or more layers. The layers are purposefully constructed to run in entirely different directions, creating a more stable base than solid wood. Once the flooring has been installed and fitted, only the top layer is visible.

Engineered wood flooring is actually entirely made of real wood making it more stable than solid wood, and can be installed over many different sub floors because it is fitted as a floating floor with an underlay.

About Engineered Wood Flooring

Why Choose Engineered Wood Flooring?

Firstly, this type of flooring can be installed in areas where there are slightly higher relative humidity levels, such as basements (providing moisture content does not exceed 4%). This floating engineered wood floor allows the use of a 46 mil plastic vapour barrier in areas where there is a slightly higher moisture level.

They have 3-7 plywood-like layers of this sheet of wood, which are then cross layered and glued over each previous layer. This makes floating engineered boards very strong and incredibly stable, in addition to being less prone to expansion and contraction.

Depending on the wear layer and the wear and tear the floor gets, the boards can be sanded and refinished 1 to 4 times over a life time. Boards come in a range of different widths (3-7 inches), the wider giving a more rustic look.
